Volunteer Opportunities
Be a part of the team that feeds over 74,500 Ventura County residents each month. Volunteer shifts for individuals and groups are available Monday through Saturday at our FOOD Share warehouse, at events, and with our farm and gleaning partners. Shifts last 2 – 4 hours per session.
Hours
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday-7am to 3pm
Wednesday and Friday-7am to 8pm
Saturday- 8am to 2pm
Office

Receptionist/Clerical – Greet visitors to office, connecting them with an appropriate contact. Receive and direct incoming calls. Refer clients to food pantries. Assist with miscellaneous clerical duties, as requested.
Farm and Fields
-
Gleaners- Pick various available produce and fruit through out the seasons in area fields and orchards.
Warehouse
-
Order Fillers- Package produce and other food items in bulk quantities made ready for delivery to various agency sites.

Produce Sorters- Sort and box donated and gleaned produce into boxes ready for distribution.

Rescued Food Sort- Sort and box non-perishable food.

Truck Drivers- Drive FOOD Share trucks on designated routes to area super markets for pick up of bread and other donated products. Class “C” drivers license acceptable. Satisfactory driving record as indicated on a Department of Motor Vehicle print out required.
Frequent Opportunities
- Sort non perishable food products when available

- Sr. Nutrition gardening – available Monday and Wednesday mornings with one Saturday morning per month
Other Opportunities
- Make Thank you calls to donors
- Provide art supplies and make all occasion cards, for Brown Bag, Senior nutrition or others
- Wash food collection bins as needed
- Organize car wash – with proceeds (funds or food) to benefit FOOD Share
- Collect recyclables - with proceeds to benefit FOOD Share
- Assemble food baskets for distribution to Brown bag clients (ingredients donated by volunteers.)
- Join FOOD Share On Call Volunteer Team
- Assist with additional special projects
