Senior Nutrition

The Senior Nutrition Program provides home delivered frozen prepared meals for 5 days and supplemental food to over 200 homebound seniors age 60 and over in Oxnard and Ventura. Through funding from the Area Agency on Aging, the cities of Oxnard and Ventura provide these programs for seniors in their cities. FOOD Share staff deliver the meals.

FOOD Share provides food for other home meal delivery programs in Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, and Simi Valley.

Brown Bag Program

The Brown Bag Program provides supplemental bags of groceries for 2,015 low income seniors at 36 sites throughout Ventura County. Brown bag contents vary depending upon availability of items. Varieties of foods are provided and include: Fruits and Vegetables, Bread and Rolls, Carbohydrates (i.e. Rice, Pasta, or Beans), Canned Goods and Protein (i.e., canned tuna, fish, or chicken).

Most sites provide bi-weekly bags for qualified clients.

To be eligible applicants must:
-Complete a FOOD Share Application
-Provide proof of  age 60 or over
-Provide proof of total monthly income 
        -Single: $1,215 or less, cash assets of $2,000 or less 
        -Married:  Combined income $2,257.50 and cash assets of $3,000 or less
