Advocate to End Hunger

Advocacy is critical to ending hunger. There are many ways to become active not only in important public policy issues, but also within your community. Our advocates communicate with their legislators about hunger issues. They talk to their friends and other social contacts about the need for a solution to hunger. Many share their personal experiences with hunger with us. As an advocate you have a voice and you can make a difference.

Nationwide, 16.1% of people are food insecure and $24 billion was required to meet the needs of these people in 2013. To find out more about food insecurity in the US, California, and Ventura County, visit Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap Project.

Legislative Updates Fighting Hunger Incentive Act of 2015

The enhanced federal tax deduction for food donations has been introduced in the new Congress as HR 644 the Fighting Hunger Incentive Act of 2015.

Please, share this widely and call your Congressional office today because the House Ways and Means Committee is marking the bill up right now!

This bill expands the federal deduction beyond C-corporations, which is crucial so farmers and growers can take the deduction.
