Visayan Association of Ventura County presents the 6th Annual Barred Surf Perch Fishing Derby. The purpose of this event is to raise funds to donate to FOOD Share of Ventura County. The derby is open to the general public of all ages and will take place on September 2, 2017, where anyone can legally fish without a California State fishing license. The event will be held on the beach at Oxnard Beach Park from 7a-12:30p with a weigh-in to determine event winners at 11am. Food and drink will be provided as part of the entry fee. State Department of Fish and Wildlife rules and regulations will be in effect.
DERBY RULES: Check-in for the Derby begins at 7am at Oxnard Beach Park Pavilion #2. Contestants must validate their registration before they can start fishing. Contestants are allowed to fish “ONLY” within the confined beach area specifically designated for fishing derby at Oxnard Beach Park. All entries submitted for competition shall be weighed and ranked according to weight. Official weigh-in to determine derby winners is from 11a-11:30a followed by awarding prizes. Contestants are encouraged to team-up with other contestants to compete for prize categories 2 and 3. Contestants are eligible to win in only one prize category.
Events Prizes Are:
Category 1 – $500 (Highest weight for single Perch)
Category 2 – $350 (Highest combined 2 Perch weight)
Category 3 – $150 (Highest combined 3 Perch weight)
