Fight domestic hunger-Hunger Action Month

Fight domestic hunger-Hunger Action Month

Hunger Action Month is dedicated to the 35.5 million Americans who are food insecure, of which 12.6 million are children.

Hunger Action Month is dedicated to the more than 600,000 seniors who are food insecure.

Hunger Action Month is dedicated to the men, women and children who face hunger and food insecurity every day.

This struggle is happening right here in our community!

More than 100,000 men, women and children struggle with the effects of hunger in Ventura County, and more than 20,000 are children.

How is this possible in our county?

Did you know that in order to afford a two-bedroom apartment in Ventura county, an indivdiual would need to earn more than $27/hour?

Did you know that an individal earning minimum wage, would need to work 2 1/2 jobs to afford a two bedroom aparment?

Did you know that 1 in 3 households pay close to 70% of their total earnings on housing?

The gap between what indivdiuals earn to create and maintain a decent quality of life and what they earn is widening and what once seemed like a struggle, is now a battle.

Help FOOD Share fight that battle.

Here are some ways you can invest in the work of FOOD Share to feed the hungry.

  • Pack your lunch instead of eating out and the money you would have spent on those meals, donate to FOOD Share
  • Talk to your colleagues, friends and families about joining you
  • Host a food drive
  • Tour FOOD Share, come and see who we are and what we do
  • Volunteer at FOOD Share
  • Become a harvester by giving monthly to support FOOD Share
