Brown Bag Program

The Brown Bag Program provides supplemental bags of groceries for 1,800 low income seniors at 32 sites throughout Ventura County. Brown bag contents vary depending upon availability of items. Varieties of foods are provided and include:

• Fruits and Vegetables
• Bread and Rolls
• Carbohydrates (i.e. Rice, Pasta, or Beans)
• Canned Goods
• Protein (i.e., canned tuna, fish, or chicken)

Most sites provide weekly bags for qualified clients. To be eligible applicants must:

• Complete a FOOD Share Application
• Provide proof of  age 60 or over
• Provide proof of total monthly income
• Single: $1,151 or less, cash assets of $2,000 or less
• Married:  Combined income $2,161 and cash assets of $3,000 or less
